OSFSS Seeking committee officers



The Oxford Sustainable Finance Student Society is seeking candidates for elected terms for Trinity 2023-Hilary Term 2024. We are electing President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Further we are seeking non-elected positions of social media manager and events officers. Please email osfss-info@maillist.ox.ac.uk to enquire about these openings.


Descriptions for these positions below:


President

  • Arranges and runs weekly meetings;

  • Assist Events team in curating, organizing and executing term cards;

  • Decide and execute the strategy of the society, including growing membership;

  • Acquiring sponsorships/partnerships, and increasing the society’s profile;

  • Any other duties are necessary for the smooth running of the society;

  • Jointly oversee society finances with the Treasurer;

  • Overall responsibility for the society;

  • Work with Chief Editor to coordinate society publications.

Secretary

Is responsible for general management of corporate activities of the Society and liaises with the University Authorities on any matters in relation thereto. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a register of the members of the society;

  • Give notice of meetings of the members and the Committee;

  • Draw up the agenda for and minutes of those meetings;

  • Notify the Proctors promptly following the appointment and resignation or removal of Office Holders and other members of the Committee;

  • And, take responsibility for the operation and updating of a suitable club web-page displaying current club contacts and the constitution;

  • Attend weekly society meetings;

  • Oversees election of next year’s executive officers.


Treasurer

Is the person controlling and responsible for the Society’s finances. Responsibilities include:

  • Keep proper records of the society’s financial transactions in accordance with current accepted accounting rules and practices;

  • Develop and implement control procedures to minimise the risk of financial exposure, including ensuring bills are paid and cash is banked;

  • Along with the President, prepare an annual budged and regularly inform the Committee of progress against that budget;

  • Develop and maintain a manual of written procedures for all aspects of the Treasurer’s responsibilities;

  • And, make all records, procedures and accounts available on request to the Senior Member, the Proctors and Internal Audit.

  • Attend weekly society meetings.


Events Coordinators (multiple openings)

Events leads are involved with all aspects of creating an event, such as lectures, panels, socials, and informal discussions. This includes helping to refine the topic, identifying speakers, organising logistics, among other duties to ensure the general success of the relevant projects. In the past, our event stream has included the following events. Event coordinators are expected to take the lead on one event per term.


  • Hybrid lectures by professors or professionals

  • Panel discussions

  • Informal DPhil socials

  • Formal dinners

  • London field trips

  • Social events (punting, drinks, etc.)


Social Media Manager (Multiple)

The manager will oversee the content of Society's pages in social media (currently, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram).
